Bio

 Jason Wheeler joined Tesla Motors in late 2015 as CFO. Previously he served as Vice President of Finance at Google. In that capacity he lead the global finance function including Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting & Controls, Internal Audit, Treasury, Tax and Finance Operations. Wheeler oversaw all day-to-day aspects of the Finance function and was also responsible for delivering the Annual Financial Plan to the Board; worked directly with the CEO and all functional/product executives to drive optimal resource allocation; and works closely with the Audit Committee to ensure that all financial risks are clearly identified and mitigated on an ongoing basis, that the company’s SOX program was functioning effectively, and that the company was in good standing with all regulatory agencies. 

Before joining Google Wheeler held various financial analyst positions at Hewlett Packard, and was a management consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton for a variety of companies in the communications, media and technology industries. 

He is a board member and serves on the audit and development committees of Positive Coaching Alliance, a national non-profit developing “Better Athletes, Better People” by working to provide all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building youth sports experience. 

Wheeler holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance, from Colorado State University, where he attended as a Boettcher Scholar and graduated summa cum laude. He lives in California with his wife, Robyn, and their three children. He is a lifelong baseball fan, an avid cyclist and occasional triathlete, who can solve a Rubik’s cube in under three minutes.
