Empowering future leaders to use professional selling skills to meet the business challenges of tomorrow
The College of Business’s Center for Professional Selling is where sales education and experience come together. We believe listening, empathy, persuasion, win-win negotiation and needs-based selling are vital skills for all professionals seeking to further their careers, solve business challenges, influence policy, provide inspiration and make an impact in their chosen professions.
Our mission is to educate and prepare our business students for careers and personal success using professional selling skills. Through academics, community outreach, extracurricular activities and corporate partnerships our sales courses prepare students to meet future professional selling challenges and use their versatile skills to help make our world a better place.
Our Sales Programs
We take a two-pronged approach to sales education:
- Teaching our students what professional selling is and preparing them to be successful in sales roles.
- Partnering with companies seeking to hire graduates who are thoroughly prepared to succeed in sales.
The Center for Professional Selling helps students understand the various types of sales careers, the specific skills needed for engaging in a successful selling situation and what buyers expect from today’s sales professionals. Through classroom learning and hands-on selling experience with corporate partners, we educate our students on the many excellent opportunities available in sales and build up their skills so they can thrive in sales careers from day one.
Sales Certificate
Enhance your education, build your selling skills and increase your marketability with a Sales Certificate. You’ll learn the ins and outs of sales, from understanding the best approaches to attract customers to managing a sales force to developing high-level marketing strategies. The certificate will prepare you for a meaningful and dynamic career in professional selling, sales management and marketing.
The certificate is open to all business major and business minor undergraduate students and consists of four required classes:
Business majors can declare a certificate by completing the necessary paperwork during an advising session. Business minors should email undergradinfo@business.colostate.edu with your name, CSU ID number and certificate you wish to declare.
Sales Club
The Sales Club gives sales-minded students across majors a place to connect with faculty, partners and one another. Club members discuss new topics in sales, work on skill development and learn about opportunities in sales professions.
Sales Club students participate in an experiential practicum, developing their sales skills with sales scenario practice, audio and video technology and direct interaction with our corporate partners. Club members lead our student sales center initiatives by promoting the center to other students and engaging with corporate partners via in-person engagements, Zoom calls and sales competitions.

Corporate Partners and Sponsoring Companies
Our corporate partners are vital to our students’ education and professional success. Partners donate time, expertise and resources to ensure our students are learning the latest sales skills and principles. We develop long-term relationships with firms seeking to develop the next generation of sales leaders and hire outstanding graduates. The center is a bridge between our exceptional students and the dynamic, growing companies that want to hire them.
