College of Business holiday challenge contributes $5,000 to COB Cares Fund

I hope your holiday season has been full of the joy that sharing traditions with those we love brings. This is one of my favorite times of the year, and I want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday, however you choose to celebrate it!

Before we turn our focus to enjoying our traditions over the next few weeks, I want to say thank you to everyone who made our Business for a Better World holiday giving challenge such a profound success. Thanks to the efforts of the College of Business community meeting the challenge, we are able to support the COB Cares Fund with $5,000. The fund provides emergency funding to Business students facing unexpected financial hardship.

I am truly humbled by the amount of time our community spent helping us reach this goal – as well as the collective puzzle skills of our community.

The holiday giving challenge concluded a year in which our Business for a Better World vision continued to guide us. In November, the Impact MBA was named the No. 4 Better World MBA in the nation by Corporate Knights, recognizing the innovation that’s made the program a leader in business sustainability education for more than a decade. In June, the College was named a “transforming institution” in the Positive Impact Rating, which rates business schools on their success in energizing and engaging their communities. We were only one of four schools in the United States to earn the ranking.

Two of our students also joined CSU’s delegation to the UN’s COP27 Climate Change Conference to advocate for sustainable policies. Our 2022 Business for a Better World Dissertation Proposal Contest funded research of emerging scholars studying topics at the intersection of business and society.  A fierce team of Impact MBA students won the Corporate Startup Lab Case Competition hosted by Carnegie Mellon University with their health equity solution, beating out teams from the most elite business schools in the country. There are so many other examples of how our students, faculty and staff were recognized for their exceptional contributions this year. Well done, College of Business!

As 2022 winds to a close, I want to take the final opportunity to thank our community for making the College of Business so special.  It’s been a wonderful year, and next year promises to be even better.

Happy holidays!
