Speakers
Jo Erven
Amanda "Jo" Erven, CPA, CIA, CFE, is the President and Founder of Audit. Consulting. Education. LLC. After a successful career in external and internal audit, Jo is now an active Internal Audit Strategist, Ethics and Culture Consultant, Author, and Trainer/Speaker, providing CPE hours, live and virtually, to organizations across the globe.
Starting in 2023, Jo is also a full-time, accounting faculty member at Metropolitan State University of Denver as well as the Director of Internal Audit Education for the University. As Director, Jo guides graduate students as they act as the University’s Internal Auditors! She has also developed an undergraduate and graduate Risk Assurance and Advisory certificate for students to earn to better prepare them for the workforce.
Michael Koenig
Mike Koenig is the global Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer for JBS. Prior to being named to this position in August 2022, Mike was the Head of Ethics and Compliance for Pilgrim’s Pride.
For almost 25 years prior to joining Pilgrim’s, Mike represented and defended companies, individual executives, and public officials in federal and state criminal, civil and regulatory investigations and trials. He also conducted internal investigations on behalf of companies across a wide range of industries. Until joining Pilgrim’s in August 2021, Mike had been the co-chair of Hinckley, Allen & Snyder’s Government Enforcement and White Collar Defense practice group.
In addition to private practice, Mike served as a federal prosecutor at the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. He was a trial attorney in the DOJ’s Criminal Division, Fraud Section, where he prosecuted a variety of white collar crimes, with a primary focus on corporate fraud.
Mike graduated from the University of Rochester and Georgetown University Law Center. He and his wife, Julie, have two daughters (24, 18) and a son (21), and his favorite hobbies are running, reading, and anything sports-related.
Bill Shuster
Bill Shuster is a Clinical Professor in the Management Department at Colorado State. His primary role is teaching Business Capstone, Supply Chain Practicum and International Business courses, while providing support for students in their career development. Bill piloted a student-driven opportunity assessment program on economic development for counties in rural Colorado that was adopted by the Governor of Colorado. He also works with many corporations to build bridges between the college and business world. This is where he developed his research interest of investigating the correlation of employee engagement and corporate strategy.
Bill still maintains his control of a small management consulting firm that specializes in organizational integration and knowledge management system structures. He has worked with employees from Hewlett Packard, Accenture, JP Morgan Chase and Google to name a few. Bill has been named Professor of the Year by the Business College Council, is an Honorary Inductee for Golden Key Honor Society and Sigma Iota Epsilon. In addition, he was a university Honored Alumni for CSU and received the Accenture Professor Excellence Award, Excellence in Education Award from the Colorado State Athletic Department, as well as the Cermak Award. Bill has two masters’ degrees—a MBA degree and a degree in Affective Communication and sits on the Board of Directors for multiple firms.
Sonny Lubick
Sonny Lubick is the Director of Community and Leadership Outreach for the CSU College of Business and former Head Coach of the CSU Rams Football team.
