Teresa Roche is currently the Chief Human Resources Officer for the City of Fort Collins, a position she thought about long before being asked to serve in this role in the fall of 2016. Becoming a public servant was Teresa's hope after being in Leadership Fort Collins in 2008. Teresa reflected then and now on how working to create and sustain healthy, inclusive, and economically viable communities can change the world. She hoped someday she would be more directly involved and not just through her volunteering efforts. The City uses the Triple Bottom Line framework, which includes social, environmental, and economic factors to guide their work, and this aligns deeply with Teresa’s values.
Teresa has over twenty-five years of experience as a Human Resources executive in various high-tech companies, helping them through various stages of their organizational life cycles, including start-ups, acquisitions, mergers, splits, and divestitures. In her last position at Agilent Technologies as the Vice President and Chief Learning Officer, the work she did with the CEO and her worldwide team on business and cultural transformation and leadership was written about extensively and won numerous awards.
Teresa has a deep passion for collaboration and learning. She is interested in how individuals and organizations develop the capability to interpret an evolving and complex environment to take effective action. Teresa is a Fellow with Harvard University’s Learning and Innovation Laboratory and has been in this learning cohort for over fifteen years.
She has a Ph.D. in Educational Technology, a Master’s degree in Counseling and Personnel Services, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Interpersonal and Public Communications, all from Purdue University.
Teresa and her husband, David Monahan, live in Fort Collins with their daughter, Kai Roche Monahan. They have long enjoyed the performing arts, reading, and being in nature as a family.
