Real estate is a complex field that impacts business decisions on a daily basis. Learn more about this dynamic industry that encompasses architecture, construction, marketing, property management, urban dynamics and more with a Real Estate Minor. Open to all CSU students who aren’t business majors, the program explores selling, appraising, real estate law and the principles of real estate finance and is a valuable complement to any field of study.
Real Estate Minors will leave the program with a thorough understanding of the theoretical principles underlying fundamental real estate concepts, as well as a deep knowledge of the practical ways those principles affect business operations. With some additional preparation, graduates will be qualified to take the Colorado License Exam.
Flexible Curriculum
The first six courses of the Real Estate Minor introduce you to fundamental business concepts such as accounting, finance and ethics. Electives cover a range of topics, such as real estate law, appraisal and market analysis, so you can tailor your learning to classes that complement your major—and your career path.
Hands-On Learning with the Everitt Real Estate Center
As a Real Estate Minor, you’ll have access to the College of Business’s Everitt Real Estate Center, a unique collaboration space that brings students together with the Northern Colorado real estate industry through competitions, networking events and conferences. Through the Center, you’ll build on the knowledge and skills you’re learning in the classroom and expand your professional network.
The Center’s annual conferences let you learn about emerging industry issues such as sustainability, pricing trends and developing markets from real estate experts, deepening the connection between what you’re learning in the classroom and what’s happening in the industry. Case competitions held throughout the year give you an opportunity to put your real estate knowledge into practice by developing innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
“Considering the economic growth of Colorado... it only made sense to pursue some experience in this particular field. It has given me a pathway to follow, versus the pasture I was walking through.”
Jason Gilmore, economics major
