How to Change Your Major to Business Administration
If you meet the entrance requirements or anticipate meeting them by the end of this semester, you are invited to register for our Change of Major (COM) Event. This event provides an opportunity to officially change your major and receive academic advising from the College of Business (COB) Academic Advising Team. The event is held at the end of each academic term (fall, spring, summer) and is the only way to declare a business major.
What to Expect
The COM event is conducted online and consists of the following:
- Mandatory LIVE Virtual Presentation – This session provides essential information about transitioning to the Business Administration major.
- Individual Advising Sessions – A 15-minute appointment with a COB academic advisor. Sessions are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis based on when students register for the event.
- Session Notifications – Students will receive their scheduled advising session time via email one day before the live event.

How to Prepare
To ensure a smooth transition into the Business Administration major, we recommend:
- Course Registration: Before the COM event, register for courses that are not restricted to Business Majors to maintain full-time student status (12+ credits). Recommended options include:
- ECON 204, STAT 204
- AUCC courses
- Business minor courses
- Other major/minor courses and electives
- Know Your Information: Have your CSU ID number ready and determine your intended concentration (you must declare a concentration to finalize your major change).
- Prepare Transcripts: If you have taken transfer courses that are not yet processed by CSU, have digital copies available.
- Use Your University Email: All communications, including advising appointments, will be sent to your CSU email. You must use this email for your advising session.
- Be On Time for the Virtual Presentation: Students who are not logged into the live presentation by 8:15 a.m. (MT) will have their scheduled advising session canceled and will not be able to change their major until after the next COM event.
Important Notes
- No Guaranteed Enrollment in Business Courses: Attending the COM event does not guarantee access to business courses. Students are highly encouraged to be enrolled in a full semester’s course load before attending.
- Purpose of the Event: This event is strictly for officially changing your major, reviewing curriculum progress, and registering for available business courses for the next semester. General academic advising is not provided during this event. You will have a full advising appointment with your new advisor at the beginning of the upcoming semester.
- If You Miss the Event:
- If you do not attend or your appointment is canceled, you must contact us after the event to complete your major change via email.
- The process can take up to two weeks and must go through the Registrar's Office.
- Once your major change is reflected in RamWeb, you will be able to self-register (or waitlist) for BUS Major restricted courses.
- Advisor availability may be limited until the start of the next semester.
