Margarita Maria Lenk, Ph.D., CMA retired as associate professor in the Departments of Accounting and Computer Information Systems in the College of Business at Colorado State University. Her professional passion and expertise includes the engineering and control of business processes and accounting information systems, sustainability practices and metrics, and the building of university-community partnerships. She is a national service-learning consultant, and has helped over 100 institutions learn how to develop service-learning pedagogies and community partnerships so that students create solutions for local nonprofits and government agencies while they are learning at the University. She also coaches and mentors minority faculty, students, and professionals around the USA. She has published in Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Information Systems Education, and eleven other journals of various disciplines. Among many other awards, she has been awarded the international best undergraduate accounting professor in 2019 by the Michael J. and Mary Ann Cook Award (Deloitte Foundation and American Accounting Association); CSU Board of Governors Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in 2009; Outstanding Educator for Emerging Technologies in the American Accounting Association in 2006; and Outstanding Accounting Educator in the State of Colorado in 1997. Margarita has been a leader in her professional service by chairing national committees, sectional leadership, and national conference programs for the American Accounting Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Campus Compact, and the KPMG PhD Project. At CSU, she has served on over 20 university-level committees, 11 college-level committees, and 12 departmental committees and task forces, and has chaired the Faculty Council Committee on Teaching and Learning. Her signature enthusiasm,caring spirit for the development of her students, her dedication to interdisciplinary knowledge and service, and her intellectual curiosity always lead her to continually embrace new areas of knowledge and experiential learning pedagogies that incorporate solutions to community needs in her research and coursework.
