Bio

Max Gelwix has 36 years of experience in the start-up, ownership, and senior management of companies within the technology, biotechnology, insurance, QSR, building and aviation industries. He has taken two companies public and subsequently spent a number of years as each company’s chief operating officer. Once public, he grew revenues of his biotechnology venture to approximately a quarter of a billion dollars in annual revenues. He is currently pioneering the Sonic QSR brand in San Diego County.

Early in his career, Gelwix provided risk management and brokerage services to companies with national and international operations within the following business sectors: construction, government, health care, legal, transportation, publishing, retail, service, sports and leisure, and manufacturing.

During that time, Gelwix was awarded the CIC designation by demonstrating expertise in property, casualty, professional liability and directors and officer’s liability insurance. He has been licensed by 32 states to practice insurance risk management and to provide brokerage services.

Gelwix holds an airline transport pilot license and flight instructor, multiengine flight instructor and instrument flight instructor ratings. He has served as an FAA designated examiner for private pilot licenses.

Gelwix has served on the Board of Trustees-Children’s Hospital Foundation, Century Club of San Diego (organizer of the Buick Invitational PGA event), Board of Directors-Bernardo Heights Country Club, San Diego International Sports Council, San Diego State University Directors Cabinet, and The San Diego Tribute to Heroes Board of Directors.
