Bio
John Weber is the former President & CEO of Long Range Systems, LLC in Richardson, Texas. Weber joined Long Range Systems in 2013 as CTO and assumed CEO responsibilities in 2015. In his time as CEO, Weber led the transition of the company to one that delivers next-generation indoor positioning services to complement its historical success as a provider of on-site communications products. Long Range Systems now delivers products and services to over 50 countries across the globe. Weber led and completed a successful exit for Long Range Systems investors in 2020.
Weber earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a concentration in strategic management from Colorado State University and began his career with EDS (now HP) as a systems engineer in the telecommunications industry.
In 1995, Weber joined MetaSolv Software, a startup focused on back-office operational software for the telecommunications industry. Weber played key leadership roles in engineering and professional services for MetaSolv as it grew to a multinational company, opened multiple offices, and completed several acquisitions as it culminated in an IPO and an eventual sale to Oracle. After MetaSolv, Weber joined another startup, Calpont Corporation, and led the engineering team in the delivery of a highly scalable, big data analytics platform. Upon completion of the product, he assumed responsibility for all marketing and sales efforts at Calpont and spoke at many industry symposiums on enterprise-scale big data management.
Weber’s career and experience spans varied roles in executive management, multiple technology sectors, start-up management, business financing, as well as software and hardware engineering.
Weber and his wife, Julie, reside in Fort Collins, Colorado with their dogs CAM and Routt. Weber currently serves on advisory councils for several Front Range startups, in addition to being a member of both the Colorado State University College of Business Global Leadership Council and the Colorado State University Institute for Entrepreneurship Advisory Board. Weber also supports multiple initiatives for Colorado State University Athletics.
