Arthur Valdez has a new role as executive vice president and chief supply chain and logistics officer at Target. Most recently he was manager of operations in retail store distribution and e-commerce order fulfillment for 20+ years, both in a domestic and international capacity in North America, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Brazil and Mexico. As a graduate of Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business, Valdez began his career and worked five years at Wal-Mart Logistics. At Wal-Mart he started as an Area Manager Trainee and developed into a Distribution Center site leader. He also worked for three years with Blockbuster Video/Music and Staples (the Office Superstore) in positions of Senior Operations Manager and Assistant General Manager, respectively, prior to joining 

In September 1999, Valdez joined as General Manager of the Coffeyville, Kansas Fulfillment Center. From there, in 2000, he became General Manager of the Campbellsville, Kentucky Fulfillment Center. He was promoted to Regional Director Operations in January 2005, overseeing the fulfillment centers in Kentucky (Lexington, Campbellsville, Louisville and Hebron), as well as the facilities in Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth) and Kansas (Coffeyville) prior to his promotion to Regional VP NA Operations in 2008. In 2009 he accepted a new challenge and moved his family to the United Kingdom, to assume the responsibilities of Vice President UK (FC’s, Supply Chain and Transportation). In June 2012 Valdez returned stateside to Seattle and the Amazon Corporate Headquarters as VP NA Transportation and Supply Chain. In February 2013 he accepted the role of VP, WW Last Mile by Amazon (LMA). Most recently, as of May 2014, he has accepted the challenge to work within North American Fulfillment Operations as the VP of International Expansion. Under Valdez’s leadership and direction, all of Amazon’s last mile delivery operations were combined into one global organization. 

In his 16 years at Amazon, Valdez has had success leading in FC Operations, Supply Chain and Transportation, both domestically and internationally, in businesses at various stages of maturity. He has leveraged these experiences as well as his passion for the Amazon leadership principles and culture in building a new organization from the ground up in a new market for Amazon.
