Dr. Miao earned a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering at Tongji University, an MBA in Finance at Fudan University, a Master of Research in Finance at Lancaster University, and a PhD in Finance (minor in Statistics) at the University of Calgary, respectively.  He is also a CFA charter holder.

Professor Miao's research interests include quantitative and empirical finance. His recent research has concentrated on the area of derivatives. He has published more than 40 academic articles. Hong enjoys collaborating with colleagues in different disciplines and from different institutions. He is particularly interested in research topics with practical applications. 

Hong  enjoys teaching all levels and topics in finance, and is particularly enthusiastic about financial derivattives and advanced EXCEL and its applications to financial modeling.
