Eric Rapley joined the Colorado State University faculty in 2016 and teaches the undergraduate auditing and introductory financial accounting courses. He is a CPA and earned Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in accounting from Oklahoma State University as well as a B.S. in accounting from Kansas State University. He gained twelve years of corporate experience prior to pursuing his graduate degrees. Eric’s public and private accounting experience includes working as a Big 4 auditor and a corporate controller. Prior to joining CSU, Professor Rapley served on the University of North Texas’ faculty.
Eric’s teaching and research interests focus on auditing and financial accounting. He is particularly interested in companies improving the appearance, but not substance of their financial reporting and also implications of specific disclosures. Rapley’s research has been published in academic journals such as Accounting Horizons, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Information Systems, and the Journal of the American Taxation Association.
