Dr. Baird specializes in health analytics, digital health, and the application of AI to business contexts. His current research focuses on causal machine learning, estimation of heterogeneous treatment effects, and how AI systems shape organizational coordination, decision-making, and attention dynamics. He won the Early Career and Mid-Career Awards from the Association for Information Systems and has published in journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Management Information Systems, Nature Mental Health, Decision Support Systems, Health Care Management Review, JAMIA Open, and Health Services Research. He teaches courses on how to use data, analytics, and AI to solve business problems. He collaborates with a variety of industry partners including Shepherd Center and Wellstar Health System.
