Raul Galang is a marketing and product innovation strategist with 20+ years of experience leading growth across global enterprises and fast-moving startups. Beginning his career as an electrical engineer (BSEE, University of Missouri), Raul transitioned into product management and marketing after earning an MBA in Marketing and Strategy from The University of Texas at Austin.
His career spans enterprise software, industrial automation, consumer electronics, and renewable energy, with his most formative experiences coming from building and scaling three startups. These ventures shaped his belief that innovation thrives at the intersection of curiosity, agility, and customer empathy — principles that anchor his teaching and consulting practice today.
At Colorado State University, Raul teaches Product Design (MKT 364), where students apply Design Thinking and human-centered design to create innovative offerings that solve real-world problems. A strong advocate for generative AI, Raul integrates it into coursework as a practical, everyday tool — much like Microsoft Office or a Google search — to help students build real-world readiness. His focus extends beyond technical skills to developing critical thinking, communication, initiative, and storytelling — essential soft skills often diminished in the age of screens and social media. The course’s capstone project is designed to strengthen these skills while giving students meaningful, portfolio-ready experiences to highlight in future interviews. Raul also looks forward to teaching International Marketing (MKT 365) in the spring — with a similar focus on developing soft skills and building real-world readiness.
Outside the classroom, Raul enjoys exploring with his wife, three kids, and two dogs. One of his dogs is a certified therapy dog, and together they volunteer at nursing homes, schools, and airports. An outdoor enthusiast and avid runner, Raul also enjoys rock climbing, snowboarding, hiking, and recently completed his sixth marathon.
