Joe joined CSU in July 2025 after serving on the accounting faculty at Indiana University Bloomington.  He obtained his PhD from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and prior to pursuing his PhD he worked for Deloitte in Denver, focusing on the energy industry. 

Joe’s research largely focuses on managerial accounting issues using the experimental method, primarily investigating the implications of both monetary and non-monetary incentives on employee judgements and behaviors. His research has been published in journals such as The Accounting Review, Management Science, and Journal of Management Accounting Research. Joe serves as an Ad Hoc Editor and on the Editorial Board of Journal of Management Accounting Research and serves as Vice President for the Accounting Behavior and Organizations section of the AAA.
