Professional development facilitator’s expertise a benefit to students.

Gerry Valentine, president and founder of Vision Executive Coaching, LLC, specializes in helping technology leaders, business leaders, and entrepreneurs to reach their fullest professional, leadership, and strategic potential. His coaching practice is based on more than 28 years of business leadership for multiple Fortune 100 companies, such as Pfizer Inc. and American Express. Valentine facilitates for the Certificate in the Leadership Edge for IT Professionals and the Certificate in Strategic Organizational Leadership for the Center for Professional Development and Business Research in the College of Business at Colorado State University.

Valentine’s experience comes from multiple industries, including financial services, healthcare/bio-pharmaceutical, entertainment, publishing, consumer products, small business management, and not-for-profit. He also has a background in diverse corporate functions, including information technology, business strategy, marketing, operations management, sales force enablement, market research, and consulting.

Prior to launching Vision Executive Coaching, Valentine spent 12 years with Pfizer Inc. in multiple leadership roles. Most recently, he was director of technology strategy, where he led technology support for the $350 million US commercial operations business, and managed a $28 million technology portfolio. In this role, Valentine partnered with the senior leadership team to identify how technology could enable key business strategies, led cross-functional technology teams through the delivery of identified solutions, and provided single-point accountability to senior business leadership for performance of the technology organization.

Prior to his role in technology strategy, he was director of relationship marketing for Pfizer, where he developed and launched the company’s first relationship marketing initiative for patients and consumers. In this role, Valentine led a team in developing all required marketing and operational capabilities, built the company’s first consumer/patient database, led development of all necessary policies regarding consumer privacy and resolution of all legal concerns, and led development of all technology capabilities, including the company’s first patient-targeted websites.

Prior to joining Pfizer, Valentine held multiple positions with industry leaders such as American Express, Columbia House, McNeil Consumer Products, and RR Donnelley. He has also consulted to some of the nation’s leading not-for-profit organizations in fundraising/marketing, database development, and analytics. Valentine has also consulted to small business owners for business planning.

Valentine holds a Master of Business Administration from the New York University Stern School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in electrical and computer engineering from Cornell University. He is a member of the International Coach Federation and is board vice president for the Society for Information Management - Colorado Chapter.
