It was so popular during last year’s College of Business homecoming celebration that it’s making a comeback. Stalwart Golden Ale, a collaborative creation between Odell Brewing Company and Colorado State University’s College of Business, will be available at the Ramskeller on campus and at the College of Business Homecoming tailgate this weekend.
Stalwart Golden Ale
Stalwart Golden Ale is an easy-drinking beer exhibiting an aroma of pear, apple, peach, apricot and melon. The flavor has a firm malt base, with peach, apricot, melon and honey characteristics. The beer finishes fairly dry and smooth.
CSU’s Fermentation Science and Technology program, which educates students in the science and art of fermenting beverages and foods, again worked with the College of Business to brew this year’s ale.
The ale was originally crafted in 2016 to commemorate the golden anniversary of CSU’s College of Business.
The College of Business held a promotion this year to help create a story for the new label, asking Rams to tell about Stalwart Golden Ale, what they love about CSU and the Front Range. Meghan Barry, an alumna of the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Liberal Arts, wrote the winning story and received two tickets to this year’s Homecoming game between the Rams and the Nevada Wolf Pack. She was also a guest brewer on the newest batch of Stalwart at Odell in September. The winning submission is featured on the label of the new Stalwart Golden Ale crowler can.

The small-batch recipe was first forged by a student-and-alumni partnership between Odell Brewing Co., the College of Business, and Fermentation Science at Colorado State University to commemorate the College of Business’s golden anniversary.
