Chart your own course while building core business skills

The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minor helps students develop the skills they need to identify problems, create business solutions to address them and capitalize on untapped opportunities. The entrepreneurial mindset – of challenging the status quo, launching new ideas, and finding solutions to complex problems – is applicable in any industry, across startups and large corporations, nonprofits and everything in between.

The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minor is designed for students who are passionate about engaging in the world of entrepreneurship. Admission to the minor is competitive and interested students need to complete an application and meet eligibility requirements.

Application opens for fall submissions on August 25, and closes October 6.

Who can apply?

  • Any business or non-business major is eligible to apply
  • Students must be in sophomore standing and have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA

Curriculum

Students are required to complete 24 credits to earn their Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minor. Coursework introduces students to the fundamentals concepts around value creation, finance, the role of entrepreneurs in the economy and how to leverage creativity and innovation to drive business growth.

Students will leave the program with a deep understanding of the key roles they can play as founders, investors, advisors, policy makers and executives working to use entrepreneurship to make the world a better place.

Flexible Elective Opportunities

Students choose five electives, in addition to three required courses, to complete their minor. This freedom allows students to tailor their coursework to unique goals, career aspirations and interests.

Electives support a wide range of academic and career goals.  In social and sustainable venturing, students learn how entrepreneurship can help transition the economy toward a more stable future. Other electives include new venture management, digital marketing, and classes focusing on industry-specific entrepreneurial topics such as engineering, agriculture and apparel design.

Internship Coursework

Students can also pursue a for-credit internship experience to count toward completion of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minor.
