Lisa Kutcher has been on the faculty at Colorado State University since 2008. She has served as the department chair since 2018. Her research and teaching interests focus on financial accounting and reporting. She is particularly interested in how regulation impacts financial reporting practices. Her research investigates the valuation effects of various disclosure choices and alternative accounting methods. Lisa’s research has been published in a variety of academic journals, including the Journal of Accounting and Economics, Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of the American Taxation Association, and National Tax Journal. She teaches financial accounting at the graduate and undergraduate level, currently focusing on financial statement analysis to graduate students. She is the recipient of several teaching awards at both the graduate and undergraduate level, most recently the Most Impactful Master of Accountancy Professor. She is a trustee for the Educational Foundation of the Colorado Society of CPAs. She is an active member of the Financial Accounting and Reporting Section (FARS) of the AAA, where she serves on the steering board. Lisa received her undergraduate degree in business from Chapman University and her doctorate from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has held previous faculty positions at the University of Oregon and the Ohio State University.
