The Academic Advising team provides academic support and assists you in navigating the administrative tasks required for the program. Advisors are available to answer questions or direct you to the appropriate resources. Members of this professional team hold graduate degrees in counseling, education or related fields and have experienced firsthand many of the challenges you face regarding work-life balance.
Academic Advising: Key Support Role to Students
The Academic Advising Team assists MBA students in the following key areas of the program and CSU community.

The professional advising team commits to provide exemplary and expedient customer service to every MBA student. Whether students have simple or complex questions, an advisor will respond within one business day to provide the necessary information or point students to the appropriate resource.
Meet the Team
The Academic Advising Team has years of combined experience in counseling and supporting students to success. While each advisor specializes in a different niche area within Graduate Programs, they are all qualified to counsel students in every aspect of their education.
Andrea Fortney, M.Ed., MBA Advisor
Specializing in helping new MBA students and assisting them with educational and career planning, Andrea joined Academic Advising in 2010. Prior to that she worked five years at the CSU Academic Advancement Center, and has worked as an advisor and career counselor for the Tri-County Workforce Center, Front Range Community College, JobWorks Career Solutions, and Youthtrack. Andrea earned her Master of Education in Human Resource Studies from Colorado State University. Her graduate research focused on counseling individuals experiencing career and life transitions through their lives. She also earned a B.S. from the University of Iowa.
Chuck Hancock, M.Ed., MBA Advisor
A member of the CSU Academic Advising team since 2010, Chuck specializes in helping students facing academic challenges and working to adjust to the level of work expected of them in graduate school. Prior to joining the MBA program at CSU, Chuck worked for five years for the CSU Career Center. In addition, Chuck has conducted workshops for the Larimer County Workforce Center and has private sector experience. Chuck completed his Master of Science in Education Counseling and Career Development at CSU and has completed post-graduate work in somatic psychotherapy. He holds a B.S. from the University of North Florida.
Denise Pearson, M.Ed., MBA Advisor
Denise joined the CSU Academic Advising team in 2009 and specializes in planning and coordination efforts for the advising team. Prior to joining CSU, she worked in academic advising, career counseling, international education, orientation, and residential life on the post-secondary level (including Colorado College, Front Range Community College, Indiana University, Metro State College of Denver, and University of California at Los Angeles). Denise earned her Master of Science in Education, Higher Education, and Student Affairs from Indiana University. Her graduate research focused on counseling and international education. In addition, she holds a B.A. from UCLA.
