There are over 40 companies currently offering internships, and in some cases, full-time employment.

This is not the only way to obtain an internship. Students are encouraged to look for positions on their own, through the Colorado State University Career Center, newspapers, magazines, friends/personal contacts, etc. Once you feel you have found an appropriate position, contact Bill Shuster to verify the position qualifies for the Internship Program.

Another excellent way to find an internship is to discuss with your current supervisor the possibility of converting your existing employment position to an internship position. Contact the Internship Coordinator to find out what is required.

Once a position has been secured, download the Internship Agreement Form, and complete it using Microsoft Word. Once complete, email the form to Bill Shuster or deliver it to his office in Rockwell 215 for review.

After receiving approval, register for the internship class on RamWeb, if you want credit for the internship. You will need to contact the internship coordinator to get the 6-digit code.

Submit Monthly Activity Reports electronically.

The Employer Evaluation of Intern is to be submitted by your employer (on-line, preferably) no later than one (1) week before the end of the semester.

Your Final Report is due in the internship office during the last week of the semester.

Appropriate faculty members will review the reports and a Pass/Fail (P/F) grade will be submitted by this office.

Credits will be based on the following:

  • 3 credits - 135 hours within one semester
  • 2 credits - 95 hours within one semester
  • 1 credit - 50 hours within one semester

Credit for participating in an  internship is only given for the semester a student has registered.

Important: Having your employer complete the Employer Evaluation of Intern, submitting your Final Report, and having appropriate faculty members review your report and issue a grade are requirements for completing the internship. Failure to meet these requirements could contribute to an unsatisfactory grade for the semester.

Summer Internships
Summer internships are an excellent way to combine a meaningful and relevant summer position with earning college credit. Follow the procedures detailed in the proceeding section for getting a Summer Internship approved and to register for the credits. Summer internships require the same registration procedures as any other internship.

Summer tuition will apply but paying the tuition is a small investment for the experience gained and the ability to show a College of Business internship on your resume.

Monthly progress reports, employer's evaluation, and final report are required for summer internships just as they are for all others.
