At the
College of Business,
you’ll benefit from dedicated faculty members who seek to continuously improve their craft and make their classes timely, engaging and enlightening. The College’s
Master Teacher Initiative
helps our faculty members be the best teachers they can be through continuing education, networking, peer evaluation and support, and access to the latest in education research.
The Master Teacher Initiative, established in the College of Business in 2005, has since become a University-wide program to enhance the practice and art of teaching to benefit all students at Colorado State University.
The Master Teacher Initiative:
· Creates an environment where faculty members from every departmnt can share common teaching interests and concerns.
· Contributes to the creation of a culture where the scholarship of teaching is valued and appreciated.
· Mentors new faculty members by providing an open forum where new and existing faculty members can network.
· Provides a structured program to continually improve teaching skills and enhance student education, as well as documents improvements for accreditation purposes.
· Gives equal weight to quality teaching within the College’s land-grant missions of teaching, research and outreach.
The Master Teacher Initiative has three major components, the Master Teacher Workshops, Teaching Tips of the Week, and the Master Teacher Web Site.
Master Teacher Workshops
Monthly Master Teacher Workshops are one-hour topical discussions led by College of Business faculty members or University Distinguished Teaching Scholars from a wide array of disciplines.
Workshops focus on a variety of teaching issues including: foundations of teaching, effective teacher attributes, learning objectives, student learning styles, course preparation, effective lecturing, interactive teaching, cooperative groups, testing and grading, managing classroom problems, case teaching, student evaluation surveys, scholarship of teaching, and video feedback from peer mentors.
