Networking skills are not natural for most of us, but all it takes is practice!

  • Get involved in COB clubs and organizations!

  • Practice your networking skills every chance you get by talking to guest speakers, professors, etc.

  • When you meet someone interesting, ask for a business card; this could come in handy during a later job or interview search.

  • Talk about what you think (your opinions) not just what you know! This can not only make for more interesting conversation but it can also help you get to know the real person behind the title or description on a business card.

  • When you meet someone, try to remember the person's name and something about him or her!

  • Try to always pronounce and spell a person's name correctly. Ask for help if necessary!
