The Everitt Real Estate Center hosts an Annual Holiday reception where leaders in the industry are recognized for their achievements and service to the Colorado real estate communities.
Hall of Fame Award
The Center has created a Real Estate Hall of Fame to honor alumni and members who have realized extraordinary achievements in the field of Real Estate. The award is given annually and a plaque bearing the recipient’s name is housed in the College of Business, Rockwell Hall.
2010 Recipient – Bill Bartran

William Dallas Bartran was born on Nov. 14, 1933, in Lyman, Neb. Most of his childhood was spent in Grand Lake, Colo., but he was a graduate of Fort Collins High School. He was a member of the Colorado Aggies basketball team and a graduate of Colorado State University.
Bartran served in the Air Force prior to following in his father's footsteps and beginning his career as a homebuilder. For over 40 years Bartran Homes Inc. has created many neighborhoods throughout the Fort Collins community and Bill was well known for the quality and craftsmanship for the homes he built. He also began one of the first sod farms in Northern Colorado, Turf Master Ltd.
Bartran was very active in the Fort Collins community. He was involved in numerous city committees, charities, an active member of the Northern Colorado Association of Home Builders, served on the United Bank Board of Directors for over 23 years, and was a member of the Fort Collins Elks Lodge.
He married Nancy J. Weinland in Fort Collins in 1959 and they raised four children together. In 1993 Bartran retired from homebuilding and became a cowboy, spending his time on Table Mountain Ranch.
He is survived by his three daughters, Cris Silkman of Draper, Utah; LeeAnn Mill of Loveland; Michele Mosner of Princeton, N.J.; and son Dan Bartran of Fort Collins; 19 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Real Estate Entrepreneur of the Year
In 2007 the Center established a new award to recognize the up and coming leaders of Real Estate; the Real Estate Entrepreneur of the Year. This annual award recognizes its recipients by a plaque housed in the College of Business, Rockwell Hall.
2010 Recipient – Eric Holsapple

Eric J. Holsapple, MBA (CSU-84), PhD (CSU-96), CCIM, has worked in commercial real estate since 1984, and managed the U.S. operations for an international development firm until 1989. Holsapple started his own business in 1990 and concurrently earned his PhD in Economics from Colorado State University in 1996.
Since founding Loveland Commercial, a real estate brokerage and development firm, with partner Don Marostica in 1996, Holsapple has and has entitled and developed over 2,000 lots in residential sub-divisions including three affordable housing subdivisions as well as numerous commercial projects including the Thompson Valley Towne Center in Loveland, and North College Marketplace in Fort Collins, both anchored by King Soopers.
Holsapple has recently diversified into homebuilding and is currently building homes under “Midtown Homes” in Loveland and has built 45 homes in the last 12 months, despite a recession in the industry. Holsapple has lectured in real estate principles, finance, market analysis, and development classes for Colorado State University since 1995 and has published articles in finance, regional economics, international real estate, and real estate market analysis.
Holsapple was a founder and has twice served as the Interim Director of the Everitt Real Estate Center at Colorado State University. Holsapple and Marostica endowed the Loveland Commercial Chair in Real Estate at Colorado State University, currently held by Steve Laposa. Holsapple has previously served as Chair the Board of Directors of the Northern Colorado Economic Development Corporation and on the Board of Directors of Loveland Habitat for Humanity.
Entrepreneur of the Year Past Recipients
Alpha Sigma Gamma
Alpha Sigma Gamma was created in 1993 to recognize the scholastic achievements of students in university real estate programs. ASG also recognizes the participation and contributions of real estate faculty and the real estate professional community in real estate education. Alpha Sigma Gamma is the only international organization for the recognition of real estate student academic excellence in the world. Sponsored by the American Real Estate Society, Alpha Sigma Gamma currently consists of over 275 members on 20 U.S. universities.
To Become a Member:
Student membership shall be open to undergraduate students meeting criteria as outlined below:
- Completed at least seventy-five percent of the total credit hours required for a bachelor's degree
- Completed the equivalent of at least six semester hours in real estate and real estate related courses
- A GPA of 3.2 or better on a four-point scale on all college-level courses taken
- A GPA of 3.75 or better on a four-point scale in real estate related courses
- Good academic standing at the local institution
